Police hunt for driver who left Jess, 12, for dead in pool of blood with broken bone, teeth and cuts

A SCHOOLGIRL was "left for dead" after she was struck by a car in a hit-andrun.

Jess Frew, 12, was walking home from a playpark when she was hit by a silver Vauxhall Corsa in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.

It is believed the driver overtook a number of stationary vehicles and sped through a red light as the youngster crossed the road.

Last night, Jess's dad Robert, 51, said: "It makes me sick to know this driver is still out there.

"To hit a child and leave them for dead is abhorrent.

"The driver overtook other cars and hit Jess while she was crossing on a green man.

"Then they fled the scene - it's disgusting. Nothing but a coward.

"I hope the police can find who is responsible so they can be brought to justice."
