Furious holidaymakers lose out on £4000 luxury cruise after flight is delayed then cancelled

FURIOUS holidaymakers have told how they lost out on a £4000 Mediterranean cruise after their flight was cancelled while they were at the airport.

Families arrived at Edinburgh Airport for the 1.20pm flight to Palma on Tuesday only to be told they faced a seven-hour delay.

They were set to board the Marella Discovery cruise, which is run by TUI, and were assured the ship would wait for them before departing from Spain.

The swanky seven-day cruise visits the ports of Livorno, Villefranche, Toulon, Barcelona and Valencia.

TUI then told holidaymakers the flight had been further delayed and after 14 hours announced the plane would not take off and their cruise had left without them.

Margaret Gardiner, 58, and William Goggans, 57, were among 82 passengers who had booked a package holiday with the travel company.
