HUMZA Yousaf yesterday insisted the SNP would have a mandate to "lay the foundations" for independence if it wins the biggest number of seats in Scotland at the general election.
The first minister defended his plan for achieving a new referendum after others branded it "deeply confused".
Yousaf used a speech in Dundee on Saturday to announce his party would move away from Nicola Sturgeon's intention to use the next general election as a "de facto referendum".
