COOL-HEADED George Williams held his nerve – second time around – to fire Warrington into the semi-finals.
The England captain slotted a dramatic golden point 85th-minute drop-goal to break St Helens hearts and settle a breathless play-offs classic.
Saints, hoping to become the first club to win Super League from sixth spot, took the thrilling game into extratime when Jon Bennison crossed in the 79th minute.
Iceman Mark Percival slotted the touchline conversion with the last kick of normal play to level it up at 22-22.
But, after Williams saw a one-pointer attempt charged down by Morgan Knowles, Percival’s rushed kick straight into touch gifted Sam Burgess’ side another chance.
And Williams, whose side trailed 164, took it to send Warrington fans wild.
They visit Hull KR on Friday for a place at Old Trafford – and a chance to finally bring a title home for the first time since 1955.
