ENGLAND’S new skipper Jamie George has urged his side to finally get out of the blocks rapidly and not get left at the start of the Six Nations again.
England face Italy in Rome on Saturday on the back of a desperate run of defeats in their last four opening matches of the tournament.
Dublin 2019 was the last time the team opened up with a win as Manu Tuilagi inspired them to 32-20 victory over Ireland.
From then on it has been a dismal run of defeats to France and three reverses against Scotland and George knows they have to get out of the rut.
A win next weekend would tee up a home clash with Wales before England head on a revenge mission to Murrayfield, followed by match-ups with Ireland and France.
And George has spent the week in Girona drumming home the message that England need a statement win over the Italians.
