NOBODY will argue against footballers getting or needing a winter break.
Nobody except Jadon Sancho, that is. More time off is the last thing the
tortured Sancho needs, because he’s spent the last three months twiddling his thumbs at Manchester United.
And those weeks he spent in the deep freeze following his public bust-up with Erik ten Hag have not served as rehabilitation.
Sancho was made to train and even eat alone, having somehow found himself detained in an environment more akin to an archaic boarding school than a professional football club.
There was never going to be a reconciliation – and all Sancho could do was wait for the transfer window to open, then hurl himself out of it.
Which he has done, in the direction of familiar pastures, following a loan move back to former club Borussia Dortmund.
