KEVIN DE BRUYNE made his long-awaited return for Manchester City as the FA Cup holders cruised into the fourth round.
Out since August 11 after undergoing hamstring surgery, De Bruyne made his comeback after 149 days and was treated to a standing ovation from City fans.
The Belgian playmaker (above, right) underlined his enduring value to Pep Guardiola's Treble winners by providing the assist for the fifth goal, converted by fellow sub-Jeremy Doku, who also returned from injury.
"We are incredibly delighted he's back, because Kevin helps us to win games and there are few in the world like him," said Guardiola.
"Kevin is exceptional, he's unique. You could see that in the quality of the assist for the final goal.
"I said before that he needs to accumulate training sessions more than games. At Newcastle we have another chance and then two weeks to have some good training in Abu Dhabi.
