UNIVERSITIES have been told to stop training so many doctors – despite the NHS staffing crisis.
They must limit the number of medical school places this year or risk fines of £100,000 per student under a 7,500-person Government cap.
It has been brought in to limit the cost of training doctors, with each one costing the taxpayer about £160,000.
