BRITISH Gas owner Centrica became the latest energy fat cat to announce "monster" record profits.
On the back of oil and gas prices soaring last year, their profits tripled to £3.3billion. Shell and BP have also recently announced record figures.
The news caused a backlash as Centrica made its billions at the same time the pre-payment meter scandal took place, which saw debt agents for British Gas "break into" vulnerable customers' homes.
