King-size joy for Shark but Shishkin so unlucky

HEW-AND CRY

JUMP racing's tallest trainer served up a King George VI Chase shock with his small bargain buy Hewick.

In an all-time thriller, Shark Hanlon's £800 purchase came from an impossible position to snatch victory at Kempton.

The 12-1 chance found another gear in the straight to pounce on last year's winner Bravemansgame and favourite Allaho.

Both of the leading fancies had been tussling it out after Shishkin exited with the £143,045 first prize at his mercy.

But it was diminutive Hewick who grabbed the glory for 6ft 5in Hanlon and man of the moment Gavin Sheehan.

The jockey's Grade One dash followed wins in the Coral and December Gold Cups.
