ELLIOTT WHITEHEAD insists he’s not coming back to Super League for a bumper payday – but to keep a promise and make history.
The ex-England second-row confirmed last week he will rejoin Catalans in 2025 – a decade after leaving them for Canberra Raiders.
There had been talk that Bradford-born Whitehead, who turns 35 in September, could retire at the end of this NRL campaign.
But he has explained why he’s decided to go around one more time and in Perpignan rather than the Aussie capital.
Whitehead, who spent three seasons with Les Dracs before heading Down Under in 2015, said: “I’ve enjoyed this last six months with Canberra.
“The body feels good and I just thought I’d like to go back for one last crack at trying to win the Super League.
