Legendary SAS hard man who cheated death on $1m mission to kill Escobar

AN SAS "warrior" once tasked with assassinating drug lord Pablo Escobar while a mercenary has died aged 81.

Special forces hardman Peter McAleese led a team of rogue black ops troops during the deadly mission in 1989.

Glasgow-born McAleese was reportedly eye-watering $ 1 million for offered an Colombian Escobar's head.

But the mission fell apart when his helicopter crashed over the Andes, killing the pilot and leaving the mercenary seriously injured - before he was rescued.

McAleese's death was announced last night on his official social media accounts.
