JOHN STONES has told Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to give him the chance to fill the boots of missing midfield maestro Rodri.
Guardiola has admitted he HAS to find a solution to the problem of being without Rodri for the rest of the season, after the Spanish star underwent knee surgery.
He deployed England international Rico Lewis in the role for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Newcastle but the decision didn't work.
But Stones admits he would relish the chance to step into a defensive midfield role once more - starting with tonight's Champions League clash at minnows Slovan Bratislava.
