King misses out in first race as Dubai ruler's horse wins

KING Charles III fell at the first at Ascot when his horse was beaten by a sheikh's mount called Royal Champion.

He hoped to repeat his late mum's feat of having a winner at his first royal race meeting since taking the top job.

But his steed Saga - ridden by Ascot's most successful jockey, Frankie Dettori - could only finish fifth in The Wolferton Stakes.
