Ben bashes Messiah talk

BEN STOKES insists he is not England’s World Cup “Messiah” – even if fans might think so.

Stokes agreed with team-mate Mark Wood’s comments that he should not be treated as a “Superman” capable of reviving their fortunes on his own.

As England’s match-winning all-rounder prepares for his return to the side against South Africa tomorrow, there is sure to be a high level of expectation on his shoulders.

Stokes has done more than most to deliver two World Cups in two formats and has produced mind-boggling feats in the Test team too.
