CHAT show king Sir Michael Parkinson has died aged 88.
The broadcasting legend passed away surrounded by loved ones after a short illness.
Cricketing pal Dickie Bird, 90, said he was “stunned and shocked” at the news.
He spoke to Parky the day before he died and told Sky News: “We cracked a few jokes, we had a few tears in our eyes.
“And we said goodbye to each other at the end of the call as if we had this feeling that we wouldn’t see...” he said before he broke down in tears.
Other stars were quick to pay tribute to Parky. Sir David Attenborough, 97, said: “He was extremely generous, he wanted you to shine and would always laugh at your jokes.”
