ARSENAL defender Ben White was today set to be called up to the England squad for the World Cup, after Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi were left out by Gareth Southgate.
White (below) has been in excellent form for Arsenal and his versatility was expected to earn him a recall, and he is set provide cover at centre-half and wing-back after Chelsea's Reece James was ruled out through injury.
Marcus Rashford was expected to be recalled, while Southgate was also expected to call up Newcastle striker Callum Wilson to his final 26-man squad. But Leicester's in-form playmaker James Maddison and Brentford forward Ivan Toney were both braced for disappointment.
Southgate finalised his travelling party for Qatar this afternoon, with Rashford set to be rewarded for his fine form for Manchester United with a return from the international wilderness.
The 25-year-old has not played for England since the defeat by Italy in the final No room #10051 of Euro 2020 but he has been resurgent under new United headcoach Erik ten Hag.
