HYDERABAD: Members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a walkout from the Telangana state legislative assembly on Monday in protest against the inordinate delay in clearing the pending bills to the extent of ₹691 crore pertaining to gram panchayats, mandal parishads and zilla parishads by the Congress government in the state.

BRS leaders stage walkout from House over delay in clearing panchayat bills

Raising the issue during the question hour, senior BRS lawmaker T Harish Rao alleged that the Revanth Reddy government was quickly clearing the bills of big contractors, but had kept the bills of sarpanches and other local body representatives, though their tenure had come to an end six months ago.

He pointed out that the previous BRS government had provided ₹275 crore every month under "Palle Pragati" (progress of villages) scheme and ₹150 crore under "Pattana Pragati" (progress of towns) scheme, but the Congress government had not released even a single rupee during the last year.
