MELBOURNE:

"Kohli has been fined 20% of his match fee, breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on the first day of the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne on Thursday," the game's world governing body said in a statement.

Openers Usman Khawaja and Sam Konstas were at the crease when the incident took place in the 10th over of the Australian innings. While crossing over, Kohli and Konstas bumped shoulders and turned around to engage in a heated exchange of words. Khawaja stepped in to separate them, putting his arm around Kohli. The on-field umpires also had a word with the two players as things cooled down.
