PM launches Raj projects to mark 1 year of BJP rule

JAIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the Congress of obstructing farmer welfare while inaugurating development projects worth ₹46,300 crore in Rajasthan.
Senjuti Sengupta

The projects include the first phase of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) that aims to provide drinking water to 13 districts in the state.

Addressing an event in Jaipur to mark the completion of one year of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Rajasthan, the Prime Minister said the delay in the implementation of the ERCP was "direct proof of the Congress's intentions". Modi alleged the opposition party impeded farmers' welfare when it was in power.

"The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was delayed for so long by the Congress, this is also a direct proof of the Congress' intentions," Modi said. "They talk big in the name of farmers but they neither do anything themselves for the farmers nor let others do anything."

During the event, "Ek Varsh Parinaam Utkarsh", the Prime Minister also inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for 24 projects related to energy, road, railways and water worth over ₹46,300 crore, including the first phase of integrated Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC)-ERCP.
