IMPHAL: Security forces have destroyed four bunkers that allegedly belonged to the accused in the recent firing incidents across Manipur, and occupied three others after gunfights over the last week, police said on Monday.

The bunkers were destroyed after operations over the last few days in areas bordering Thamnapokpi and Sanasabi villages of the northeastern state, police statement said. "All armed miscreants involved in recent firing incidents at Thamnapokpi and Sanasabi have been flushed out," the statement said. "Four illegal bunkers have been destroyed while three other bunkers have been occupied by security forces both in the valley and dominating hill areas."

Arms and ammunition recovered during joint op

The army, in a joint operation with Manipur Police and other security forces, recovered nine weapons and ammunition in Imphal East, Yangiangpokpi and Churcahandpur areas of the state.
