LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness a major reshuffle in the state bureaucracy early in the new year with the promotion of IAS officers of various batches.
IAS officers of the year 2000, 2009, 2012 and 2016 batches will be promoted. The meeting of the departmental promotion committee under the chief secretary is likely to be held at the year-end.
The officers of the year 2000 batch will be promoted from the level of the secretary to the principal secretary while the officers of the 2009 batch will be promoted from the special secretary level to that of the secretary.
Uttar Pradesh is facing a shortage of IAS officers at the principal secretary level. Several officers at the principal secretary level have been given charge of the multiple departments. The promotion of officers will ease the burden of senior officers.
