PATNA: Bihar's deputy chief minister-cum-finance minister Samrat Chaudhary on Saturday said that the group of ministers (GoM) of the GST council required another meeting to discuss steps to bring down taxes on the premiums of insurance schemes for individuals, senior citizens and the group.

Talking to the HT over the phone from Jaisalmer, Chaudhary, who is also convener of the GST council, said that many ministers had suggested that the GoM shall meet on the issue of GST on insurance meeting and prepare a comprehensive report on it. "We will meet again next month and submit the report to the GST council, headed by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman," said Chaudhary.

The GST council meeting, which was held on Saturday in Jaisalmer, is learnt to have discussed changes in tax rates on various articles, including Kashmiri shawl, used electric and fossil fuel small cars, garments worth over ₹1,500 and bicycles. The discussion on GST on insurance premiums has been postponed.
