MUMBAI:

Police officials said the Navy speed boat's crew tried to minimise the impact of the inevitable crash, which was triggered after an engine malfunction appeared to have opened the throttle.

Mahendra Singh Shekhawat, a Marine Commandos (MARCOS) petty officer who died in the incident, attempted to reduce the collision's severity, according to statements from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) employees who were aboard the naval vessel.
