JODHPUR/BARMER: Days after the ground in the desert region of Jaisalmer collapsed during a tubewell excavation which in turn released water and gas under immense pressure, experts pointed out the probability of the presence of Saraswati river flowing deep in the region.

On Saturday, a stream of water erupted along with some gas during the excavation for a tubewell near the Chak 27 BD area in Mohangarh.

Besides, the boring machine and truck brought in for the excavation submerged as the water continued to flow. Though the water flow stopped by Sunday night, the authorities have restricted movement in the region as precautionary measure, officials said.
