DEHRADUN:
In Dehradun, police arrested the accused wanted in two cases of cow slaughtering following an encounter on the intervening night of December 28 and 29, an official said. According to police, the accused, identified as Shahnawaz alias Soni (28), a resident of Gangoh in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was shot in the leg in retaliatory firing from the police when he fired two rounds.
The accused is facing half a dozen criminal cases, including two of cow slaughtering in Dehradun and Saharanpur.
The police also recovered a country-made pistol with a live cartridge and two empty cartridges from him.
