JAMSHEDPUR:
The gravity of the problem is evident as Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has been unable to collect, dump, and dispose of much of its 70-80 tonnes of municipal waste generated daily at safe dumping sites.
This has led to piles of municipal waste accumulating across Mango, forcing lakhs of residents to endure an intense stench and face potential health hazards.
"Clean city-green city Jamshedpur has turned into a dirty city. You had urged the people of Jamshedpur to launch a public movement against waste during a meeting on Swachh Survekshan-2024 in your office in November 2024. However, if the MMC and the district administration's dilly-dallying attitude persists, we will be compelled to take to the streets," a memorandum submitted to the DC on Friday by a senior citizens' delegation from Mango stated.
