RUDRAPUR: The administration has provided ₹2 lakh each to 68 families whose houses are in disaster-prone areas as the first installment to construct houses in Champawat district, officials familiar with the matter said, adding that 22 families have also been provided land.
Champawat's district magistrate Navneet Pande said, "Sixty-eight families in the district whose houses are geologically not safe to live have been provided ₹2 lakh each from state disaster management as the first installment to construct their houses. Another installment for ₹2 lakh will be sanctioned as these families fulfill the criteria of the government."
