Donald Trump's Republican rivals clashed at a presidential debate on Wednesday over issues ranging from Ukraine, China to immigration and the economy.
In a major policy shift, Indian-American presidential aspirant Vivek Ramaswamy said that he will not back Ukraine in its war against Russia, aligning himself with former president Donald Trump on the matter.
"We have to level with the American people on this issue," the 38-year-old multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur said. "Just because (Russian President Vladimir) Putin is an evil dictator does not mean that Ukraine is good. This is a country that has banned 11 opposition parties, that has actually...," Ramaswamy said.
The second Republican debate of the 2024 election cycle which was held at Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California on Wednesday, saw Ramaswamy sharing the stage with six other candidates including Florida governor Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, former vice-president Mike Pence, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, North Dakota governor Doug Burgum and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
Ramaswamy's tilt drew major blowback from rivals Haley, Pence and Christie.
