BLOODY DADDY
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Ronit Bose Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Diana Penty, Vivan Bhathena, Sanjay Kapoor, Ankur Bhatia
Direction: Ali Abbas Zafar
In an era when well-made shows and films based on drug mafias have kept us hooked, a half-baked and bland product is a bit of a downer. Sketchy characters with no back stories, a wafer-thin plot, a limp screenplay and a climax that takes no NASA brains to decode - Ali Abbas Zafar's Bloody Daddy makes you wonder just what his motivation to put this slapdash endeavour together was.
An adaptation of the 2011 French film Sleepless Night, the film underwhelms with average dialogues and action scenes, not to mention a litany of uncooked characters. If anything works, it's Shahid Kapoor's screen presence, but unfortunately, even he falters big time in the acting department this time. We've seen him do needlessly brooding and brawling and alcoholic and eccentric characters a bit too much now all the way from Kabir Singh (2019) to Jersey (2022) and recently Farzi.
