Young chicken farmer astonished bird laid super-sized produce

A HEN will certainly not fall fowl of its owner after it laid what is believed to be Ireland's largest egg - more than double the size of a regular one.

Craig Evans, 16, was shell shocked and speechless when he went out to check on his flock last Tuesday.

The teenager sells his produce through honesty boxes outside his home in Wicklow and near the family farm ever since he bought his first hens last February.

But demand has been so good he now owns 31 birds. Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Craig said: "I went out and I was just picking the eggs as normal and I pulled that one out.
