SHE’S the most famous landlady on Irish telly and actress Rebecca Grimes even has her own pub at home in the back garden.
The 35-year-old plays Hayley Collins, owner of Fair City’s legendary pub McCoy’s.
In an interview with the Irish Mirror, she told how she built her own bar during lockdown.
“Myself and my partner, Paul, have our own wooden pub in the back of the garden,” she said.
“We built it during lockdown and it was great to have somewhere to go.
“It’s a place where we can just chat and relax.
“Sometimes we have friends round to our pub, but usually it’s just the two of us. People go to the pub because they want to chat and it’s the centre of everything.”
However, she says after a day on the RTE set, she just wants peace and quiet.
Rebecca added: “Honestly when I get home from work, I’ve been talking to people all day so I need some silence.
“My partner works from home so he’d be all chat but I just need half an hour of no talking.
“Even driving home from work, I won’t have the radio on as I need that time to myself.
“Once I’m in the door I need to be quiet for about half an hour and then I’m grand and I will chat away.” The actress told how Paul is a devoted Fair City fan and added: “ He will watch it even when I’m not watching it. He will call me in when he hears the theme tune and usually we’ll watch it together.”
Rebecca’s character Hayley is in the middle of some dramatic scenes at Carrigstown this week, with a storyline that tackles gangland.
