USA 2 Rep. of Ireland 0
VERA PAUW believes new recruit Sinead Farrelly has given Ireland a new dimension ahead of the World Cup.
The 33-year-old ended a whirlwind week by making her debut for the Girls in Green during Saturday night’s 2-0 defeat to the USA.
Farrelly was drafted in to train with the squad after they arrived in Austin and on Friday evening, just over 24 hours before the game, she was added to the squad.
The Pennsylvania native made an impressive debut for the hour that she was on the pitch.
Pauw said: “To be honest, with her we could play the way that we did. You could also see the difference, the moment you miss the player who can keep the ball for that little moment.
“From that moment it was a storm for us, we couldn’t get it away anymore.”
Kyra Carusa (right) played as the loan striker on Saturday night, with Heather Payne operating in the right-wing-back role.
