Girls' lush green hotel

THE Ireland team's HQ for the Women's World Cup is one of Australia's most stunning hotels.

Vera Pauw's squad will be based at the Emporium for their debut appearance in the finals this month.

It is so luxurious the players will have six different types of pillows to choose from for maximum comfort.

No expense has been spared. But it's a bit of a "chalk and cheese" situation for the team's training ground.

While the hotel is amazing, the training ground at semi-professional Olympic FC is a little more basic.

And as the squad works out final tactics they will have to watch out for deadly... birds!

There are signs across the ground which proclaim: "Swooping Bird Alert. Birds may swoop in this area.

"Do not run. Wear a hat or carry an umbrella. Wear glasses to protect your eyes.

There is huge excitement across Brisbane for the arrival of the Irish team and the start of the World Cup.

All the venues' signage include their original indigenous names in the branding as respect to the "First Nation".

The Irish Mirror was given an exclusive behind the scenes look at the hotel, training ground and the stadium where they will play their group match against Nigeria.

We also looked around Stadium Australia in Sydney where we face the joint hosts in a mouth-watering opener.

The hotel bosses are going all out for a fantastic Irish welcome.

There will be Irish themed lights in the lifts, a special Irish cocktail in the rooftop bar and a new pastry in the bistro in honour of its sporting guests.

Captain Katie McCabe and her team-mates will have never experienced luxury like it.

There are no traditional TVs in the rooms.

Press a button and the screen just magically appears in the 1 centre of a huge ornate mirror like a scene from a Harry Potter film.
