DAVID BROOKS is desperate to repay Wales after their medical team helped to diagnose his cancer early and potentially saved his life.

Wales were preparing for a double header against the Czech Republic and Estonia when Bournemouth winger Brooks was given the devastating news that he had the disease in October 2021.

The diagnosis followed the prompt action of Wales team doctor Jon Houghton who first spotted the danger signals.

Within 24 hours of tests, Brooks was told he had Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma and warned to prepare for gruelling rounds of chemotherapy.

The Wales international was eventually declared "cancer-free" last.

May having sat out the Cherries' promotion-winning campaign.
