Liverpool fans in Ireland blast UEFA refund plan for Champs League final nightmare

LIVERPOOL supporters in Ireland were kicking off yesterday over UEFA's compensation plan for the nightmare of last year's Champions League final.

Innocent fans were pinned against gates and pepper-sprayed or tear-gassed by riot police outside the Stade de France in Paris on May 28 as they queued to enter the stadium.

Yesterday UEFA announced Reds supporters who got their tickets from the club will be eligible for a refund.

But some fans said the soccer governing body could "stick their refunds".

Kevin Neely, from Donegal, told the Irish Mirror: "I paid €70 for my ticket and got into the match and I will be refunded because I bought mine from the club.

"But others paid more for their ticket and did not get in and will not be refunded because they did not get their ticket from the club.

"In the end, I think fans will forget that they were refunded but they will never forget the experiences of Paris.

"The €70 means nothing to me, it's an absolute token. It's the very least that UEFA can do." Donegal Liverpool Supporters' Club member Kevin, 50, added: "I expect a lot of fans will do nothing to get the refund. They won't chase it, especially if they have to apply.
