Jailed gangster could be freed in six years

GER Dundon, who was jailed last week for 15 years for his role in a €300,000 kidnap and blackmail plot, could be released on licence in six and a half years.

Dundon, who is a senior member of Limerick’s notorious McCarthy-Dundon gang, learnt his fate on Friday at Wood Green Crown Court in the UK when Judge John Dodds handed down the prison sentence.

The gangster was given 10 years for the kidnap and blackmail plot and a further five years for possessing a gun and ammunition in May 2022 while on bail.

Judge Dodds told him he can “expect at least to serve half of that before consideration is given to be released on licence”.
