PAUL Mescal's mother Dearbhla has said her famous children "keep it real" as she continues her cancer battle.
The former garda is battling multiple myeloma, which is a type of bone marrow cancer that can affect the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs.
Dearbhla, 54, was diagnosed with the illness last July and posted about her condition one year on in a post on Instagram.
She wrote it has been a year of "full circle moments" but praised the love and support from her children Paul, Nell and Donnacha.
She said: "365 days of trusting, investing, in dreaming, in believing, loving, losing, in being angry, sad, upset, in being afraid, in holding steady and being fully committed.
"I have found strength and calm. It's been a year of full-circle moments. People have entered my life my arena - and left by choice.
