Private schools got €128m from State last year

PRIVATE schools received over €128million in funding from the State last year.

It came as the amount of money spent on building projects increased by €2.6million compared to the previous year.

Figures provided to the Labour Party's education spokesman Aodhan O Riordain show that State spending on private education between 2018 and 2023 amounted to €588million.

Mr O Riordain told the Irish Mirror that after teachers' salaries are paid, he does not believe that the State should give the institutions money.
