LET THEM EAT CAKE!

PRETTY much everybody likes a little bit of cake every now and then.
But from the scenes in Manchester city centre this morning, it's clear some like it a little more than others.
Sweet-toothed bakery fans queued from 5am to taste what has become a viral sensation from bakery Get Baked Patiently waiting for one of 1,000 free slices on offer, some dedicated diners arrived well before dawn on Stevenson Square. The bakery opened its doors in the Northern Quarter for the first time this week.
The cake most in demand is named Bertha - a 24-layer chocolate cake, normally costing £20 a slice.
It became a social media hit, driving a queue that snaked around the corner from the first Get Baked store in Manchester. It went on down the street before doubling back on itself.
The bakery started out in Leeds that gained widespread attention and acclaim for its 'Bruce' chocolate cake which it launched in 2021.
