A machine operator, tipping the scales at 20st 2lb, has shed an impressive 9st 1lb in just over a year by ditching snacks and taking up football. Reece Cotton, 33, from Stockport, felt 'embarrassed' about his struggle to fit on rollercoaster rides due to his size.
He spent his 20s and early 30s indulging in unhealthy eating habits, including regular takeaways and snacks, consuming a whopping 4,000 calories a day. With a size XXL and a 44in waist, Reece thought he was comfortable with his weight until a trip to Gulliver's World Theme Park in August 2023 proved otherwise.
"I wanted to take them to Alton Towers but I thought if I can't get on the ride with them then they're going to miss out as well," Reece said. Adding: "I felt a bit embarrassed." Throughout his 20s and into his early 30s, Reece admitted to leading an inactive lifestyle peppered with regular indulgences in takeaways, such as pizza and kebabs, at least three times a week. His typical day consisted of work followed by evenings on the couch watching TV while munching through family-size bags of crisps and sweets.
