A NUMBER of fish and chip shops in Greater Manchester have been named in the 2024 list of best in the UK. Fry Magazine's 50 Best Fish and Chip Takeaways and 10 Best Fish & Chips Restaurants have been announced.
The awards recognise the operators setting the gold standard for food quality, customer service and marketing. The final list is decided by judges who visit establishments unannounced, and cast their verdicts based on factors including quality, staff expertise, value for money, and social media presence, amongst other metrics.
This year, while no Greater Manchester chippies made it into the 10 Best Fish & Chip restaurants, four from across the region feature in the top 50 Best Takeaways, including a few familiar faces. Shops can achieve 100% if they score top marks on every section, but takeaways had to achieve at least 95.5% or over to win an award.
The list includes the much-loved Chips@No. 8 in Prestwich, which recently made it into the shortlist for the 40 best chippies in the UK as part of the Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year 2024, an annual awards run by the National Federation of Fish Friers.
