Dias gives brutal assessment on City's pursuit of another Treble

Here we are back in March, with longer days rolling in and the Blues are chasing history again.

This is the fourth successive season that City have been chasing at least a treble with just a few months of the season to go.

Just don't tell Pep Guardiola or his players, who are determined to stick to that classic footballing cliche of one game at a time. So while Sunday's show-stopping showdown at Anfield is the contest everyone is counting down the hours to, the focus in the dressing room and at the training ground is on tomorrow night and a Champions League last16 second leg against FC Copenhagen.

City lead 3-1 before the Etihad return and to the outside world progression is a mere formality, but that sort of complacency won't drift into the squad.

It is why, when Ruben Dias was asked about the Liverpool game as he stopped to speak to reporters after a 3-1 win in the Manchester derby, he turned the discussion back to Europe. In truth, that is a game that nobody listening really wanted to talk about, given what is on the agenda for later this week.
