Residents heard 'four bangs' and 'commotion' shortly after midnight yesterday on Yewdale Gardens, Breightmet, Bolton.
Police descended on the scene at around 12am after receiving reports of a firearms discharge. Forensics also attended and the road was cordoned off amid investigations overnight.
Enquiries have since confirmed shots were fired, but that nobody was injured.
