COMMUNITY campaigners, two star footballers and charity champions are among those from Greater Manchester who have been recognised in this year's King's New Year Honours list.
Man United and England goalkeeper Mary Earps, dubbed 'Mary Queen of Stops' after this summer's World Cup, has been made an MBE for her services to football.
Campaigners who have fought for a better quality of life for their communities have also been recognised.
These include Ehinor OtaigbeAmedu, who has been made an MBE for her dedication to supporting single mums through her charity Wonderfully Made Woman, which helps deal with challenges from isolation to domestic abuse.
Daniel Hill was awarded an MBE title for his incredible volunteering work with bereavement charity Daddys with Angels, which provides advice and support for those who have lost children.
And Rachel Parkinson was recognised with a BEM - her work with Humans MCR and their doorstep deliveries during the Covid lockdown ensured thousands of meals were delivered to those who needed them most.
Will Nixon, who led a training company which provided apprenticeships, training and support for up to 20,000 young people, is awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) while Lydia Anna Obat Ina was honoured with an MBE after fostering over 300 children in the Manchester area.
Rochdale-born Sajid Javid MP is knighted for his political and public service, and rugby coach Kevin Sinfield becomes a CBE for his services to Motor Neurone Disease Awareness.
Ashton-under-Lyne born Dame Margaret Beckett, Britain's first female Foreign Secretary, becomes a GBE.
