A MOTHER told a jury that she screamed as she watched her son kill his father as he repeatedly hit over the head with a hammer.
Monica Neil, 79, said at first she thought her son Colin was holding a tea towel, only to realise he was armed with a hammer. She then told how Colin hit his father and her husband John over the head 'about five times, causing fatal injuries.
Jurors at Manchester Crown Court have heard that Colin Neil, 52, was suffering from psychosis caused by undiagnosed epilepsy at the time of the fatal attack, committed at the home he shared with his 82-year-old father on Riddings Road in Timperley.
He denies murder and manslaughter, with his lawyers arguing that he was 'insane' at the time of the killing and didn't know what he was doing was wrong.
