A VILLAGE is taking the fight to an internet firm that put up a monstrous 60ft mast near residents' homes - and has another one on the way.
People in Rochdale say they had no idea IX Wireless was due to install the giant aerial at Harbour Lane over the summer - and want to stop the imminent arrival of an identical structure at Smith Hill.
The firm has courted controversy while rolling out its 'next generation' broadband across the north west coming under fire for failing to consult residents or, in some cases, gain the required local authority permissions.
Milnrow has joined the list of places taking the fight to the Blackburn-based broadband and the local councillors are calling on the government to step in and take action.
Helen Copping, of Harbour Lane, says the mast is a 'monstrosity. "It's literally eight to ten steps from my front door," she said.
