O’Boyle is leaving United after just over two years in his role and although he played a key part in the transition to a new football structure under Ineos, his responsibilities are now overlapping with sporting director Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
One of his final acts at United was to play a major part in drawing up plans for the £50m redevelopment at Carrington, with work now underway to transform the club’s training ground and deliver improved facilities in time for the 2025/26 season.
