A YOUNG girl is living with a heart condition that means a sudden surprise could kill her.
Ellie-May O’Connor was born with Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia type 1, a rare heart condition which affects the electrical system of the heart.
CPVT causes the level of calcium inside the heart cells to not regulate properly, meaning people with the condition are vulnerable to abnormal heart rhythms.
A sudden rush of adrenaline could have devastating consequences for the 11-year-old – such as the heart’s response to exercise or unexpected shock.
The schoolgirl, from Glossop, was diagnosed at birth and shares the heart defect with her dad Sean, 29. Mum Tara says her daughter’s condition is always on their minds.
