A LONG-HELD dream came true for a train-loving grandmother after she was invited to announce arrivals and departures at a railway station over the public address system.
June Rosen's family had no idea of her quirky ambition until she revealed all at a birthday party. The 83-year-old told them she had always loved standing on platforms listening to train announcements, and how she thought it would be a lovely job.
So her daughter and family fixed it with Avanti West Coast so June could spend a morning on the microphone at Stockport railway station.
With a crystal-clear tone and perfect pronunciation, she announced eight services in total to waiting passengers, including inter-city trains to London Euston and a Northern service to Hazel Grove, Stockport.
